A little help. Back to your music.
Setup, browser permissions, and answers to the everyday questions.
Your first listen
Install Bass Plus from the Mac App Store and open it.
Activate the free 7-day trial, or use Restore Purchases if you already purchased full access.
Turn on audio processing and allow macOS access to system audio. The permission section may be called Screen & System Audio Recording or have a different name on your macOS version.
Start your music, select the output device, and adjust the bass. Begin with a moderate level.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set up automatic pause?
In Bass Plus, open Effects → Sound → Dictation pause and choose Google Chrome or Safari. Allow Bass Plus to control that browser in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.
Chrome: View → Developer → Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.
Safari: Settings → Advanced → Show features for web developers, then Develop → Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.
Menu names vary with browser version and language. Bass Plus does not change these settings for you. If you decline automation permission, the other audio functions remain available during an active trial or after purchase.
Why is my browser music not pausing or resuming?
Check that the selected browser matches the browser playing your music, that macOS Automation permission is enabled, and that JavaScript from Apple Events is allowed.
Try ordinary HTML audio or video. Calls, MediaStreams, live broadcasts, protected content, players in third-party frames, and some unusual players may not be supported. Support is not guaranteed on every site.
Only playback paused by Bass Plus resumes automatically. Manually stopping, seeking, adjusting the player volume, or changing the track can cancel automatic resume.
There is no sound, or the wrong output is selected.
Turn processing off to return to regular macOS audio. Select the intended output in Bass Plus and in macOS, then use Restore audio in the app settings if needed. Check the output volume before enabling processing again.
How do I reduce distortion?
Reduce bass and additional gain, try another character or algorithm, and enable Safe. Very high settings can saturate the signal. Safe reduces overload; it cannot guarantee distortion-free playback at every setting.
What does volume above 100% mean?
Up to 100%, Bass Plus follows system volume on devices where macOS allows it to be changed. Above 100%, it adds software gain while processing is active. Fixed-volume devices use software volume instead.
150% is a control setting, not a promise of sound perceived as one and a half times louder. The source, output device, processing, and Safe limit the actual result.
Where do I change the skin or language?
Choose Skins in the main window or menu bar panel. Changing appearance preserves your audio settings. Select the interface language in app settings. On first launch, the app follows the macOS interface language, not your country.
How do the trial and lifetime purchase work?
Installation is free. Confirm free activation with Apple to start 7 days of full access. When the trial ends, audio processing and automatic pause require the lifetime purchase. Regular macOS audio remains available.
There is no subscription or automatic payment after the trial. The introductory lifetime price is $14.99 USD; Apple shows the final local price. Purchases are processed by Apple.
How do I restore a purchase or request a refund?
Use Restore Purchases in Bass Plus while signed in with the same Apple Account used for the purchase. Apple handles refund requests through Report a Problem.
Which Macs, browsers, and languages are supported?
Bass Plus requires macOS 14.4 or later. The app is built for Apple Silicon and Intel; every Mac model and audio device has not been tested. Browser automatic pause supports Google Chrome and Safari with the required permissions.
The app supports English, German, French, Japanese, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian.
